It works by inhibiting the reverse transcriptase enzyme, preventing the virus from multiplying, and reducing the viral load. Abacavir and Lamivudine, two anti-HIV drugs, are combined as the Abalam Tablet. They stop HIV (virus) from growing in your body, limiting the amount of virus that is. They also raise the number of CD4 cells in your blood (white blood cells that fight infection).
